Obec Nižbor se rozkládá severozápadně od města Berouna v údolí řeky Berounky, přímo na jejím toku.
Ke střediskové obci Nižbor patří ještě obec Stradonice a obec Žloukovice. Počet obyvatel: Nižbor - 1147, Stradonice - 136, Žloukovice - 150. Znak obce: královská koruna symbolizuje hrad, vlnité břevno řeku Berounku a dubová snítka původní dubové porosty v okolí.
HISTORIE OBCE NIŽBOR -
počátkem 16. stol. dostává Ota z Losu povolení od krále Vladislava k postavení nové železné huti. Kolem ní vznikla první obydlí zaměstnanců a tím byl položen základ obce Nové Huti, později Nižbora.
KULTURNÍ PAMÁTKY A VÝZNAMNÉ OSOBNOSTI NIŽBORA -
dominantu obce tvoří nižboraský zámek, původně královský raně gotický hrad založený na ostrohu nad řekou Berounkou králem Přemyslem Otakarem II. V r. 1720 - 1724 byl hrad přestavěn na zámek. Celý objekt byl v minulosti špatnou péčí značně zdevastován. K obci měla vztah řada významných osobností, např. hudební skladatel B. Smetana, pěvkyně G. Roubalová, narodil se zde významný internista Emerich Maixner.
Další dominantou obce je stavba s hvězdářskou kopulí. Tento objekt je postaven na průsečíku 14 poledníku a 50 rovnoběžky.
SOUČASNOST OBCE NIŽBOR -
obec je hlavně v letních měsících vyhledávaným rekreačním centrem, je zde veřejné tábořiště a obcí vede řada turistických tras směrem na Křivoklát a Lány.
Die Gemeinde Nižbor erstreckt sich nordwestlich der Stadt Beroun im Tal der Berounka, direkt entlang dieses Flüßchens.
Zu Nižbor gehören noch die Ortschaften Stradonice und Žloukovice. Einwohnerzahl: Nižbor - 1147, Stradonice – 136, Žloukovice – 150. Wappen: Die Königskrone symbolisiert die Burg, der gewellte Balken den Fluß Berounka und das Eichenzweiglein den ursprünglichen Eichenbewuchs in der Umgebung.
GESCHICHTE VON NIŽBOR -
Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts erhält Ota von Los von König Vladislav die Genehmigung zur Errichtung einer neuen Eisenhütte, in deren Nähe die erste Arbeitersiedlung entstand, womit der Grundstein für die Ortschaft Nová Huť (Neue Hütte), später Nižbor gelegt war.
KULTURDENKMÄLER UND BEDEUTENDE PERSÖNLICHKEITEN VON NIŽBOR -
Dominante im Ort ist das Schloß, ursprünglich eine auf dem Felsen oberhalb des Flusses von König Přemysl Otakar II. gegründete frühgotische Burg. Von 1720 – 1724 erfolgte der Umbau in ein Schloß. Das gesamte Objekt wurde in der Vergangenheit vernachlässigt und zerfiel. Eine Reihe bekannter Persönlichkeiten können mit diesem Ort in Verbindung gebracht werden, wie z.B. der Komponist Bedřich Smetana, die Sängerin Gabriela Roubalová und der hier geborene bekannte Internist Emerich Maixner.
Eine weitere Dominante des Ortes ist die Kuppel der Sternwarte. Dieses Objekt ist auf den Schnittpunkt des 14. Längengrades und des 50. Breitengrades errichtet worden.
NIŽBOR HEUTE -
der Ort ist vor allem in den Sommermonaten ein gefragtes Erholungszentrum mit öffentlichen Camps. Durch den Ort führt eine ganze Reihe von Wanderwegen in Richtung Křivoklát und Louny.

THE HISTORY OF NIŽBOR -
at the beginning of the 16th century, Ota of Los received permission from King Vladislav to build a new iron foundry. Around the foundry arose the dwellings of the workers, which laid the foundations for the town of Nové Hutí, later renamed Nižbor.
CULTURAL MONUMENTS AND DISTINGUISHED FIGURES OF NIŽBOR -
the major town landmark is Nižbor Chateau, originally a royal Early Gothic castle founded on a promontory overlooking the Berounka by King Přemysl Otakar II. From 1720 - 1724, the castle was renovated as a chateau. Over the years, the entire building has suffered considerable damage due to poor maintenance. Distinguished figures associated with the district include Bedřich Smetana, singer Gabriela Roubalová, and physician Emerich Maixner who was born here.
Another local landmark is the observatory with its cupola. The building was constructed at the intersection of the 14th longitudinal and 50th latitudinal lines.
NIŽBOR TODAY -
during the summer months Nižbor is a popular recreational center, there is a public campground here, and a number of hiking trails leading from the town to Křivoklát and Lány.
